By default, MP Express will find all content on your website and translate it automatically. However, machine translation services are known to make mistakes, like translating product names that should remain consistent across all languages. In such scenarios, it is wise to manually update the translations to avoid confusing your clients.
Translation editor
We provide the Translation editor to handle these tasks straight in your web browser. Start in the preview:
Then, select Edit in... and Visual Editor. The Visual Editor shows you your website, and it allows you to select elements where you wish to change the translations. Just click on the segment you wish to change, then edit the translation near the bottom.
Note that the Visual Editor isn't compatible with every website. Notably, if your site has a pop-up dialog, you may not be able to dismiss it and as such may not be able to edit the content behind it.
Alternatively, you can Edit in... the Table Editor. Here, you can also edit parts of the website that aren't visible by default, such as metadata for accessibility or SEO.
Notes:
- The changes may take some time to become visible as they propagate globally. Please give the system up to 24 hours. If the changes still do not show up, please reach out to us.
- To make the best out of the Translation editor, we recommend you use a laptop or a desktop computer. This ensures you can easily enter text via your keyboard.
Collaboration
There are two main ways for you to collaborate with members of your team who can speak the target language. The easier is to use the Copy link button. This allows you to provide them with a link where they can preview the translations without signing up.
Alternatively, you can navigate to the Dashboard and invite them via the Team screen. Once you set this up, a few options become available:
- Comment: Both in the Visual Editor and Table Editor, you can find this option near the bottom of the screen. This allows you and other collaborators to comment on the translation (and see previous comments). Comments can also be resolved.
- Approve: This is a flag marking the translations as having been reviewed and deemed correct.
